27/03/10 News Update

712 Moves to Crich

On the 26th March Balloon Car 712 moved to the Crich Tramway Village at Derbyshire. The tram was painted into 1930s Green and Cream prior to its move and is now to revert to the original number 249. Unfortunately 712 (249) will not be serviceable at Crich and will be on permanent display in the exhibition hall.

2010 Trams?

There has been much questioning on which trams will be running during 2010. Although it is not yet final there is now a good idea on how the operating pools will work. Only transponder fitted trams will be allowed past Bispham as the crossing will allow trams to cross when they are arriving. Trams to be fitted with transponders are likely to be : 66, 147, 600, 626, 630, 631, 641, 642, 643, 644, 645, 646, 647, 648, 672+682, 675+685, 700, 707, 709, 711, 713, 717, 718, 719, 720, 723, 761, 762, 733+734, 736, and 737. Although this may limit which trams will be used on timetabled service Twin Cars may be used more often as they are suitable to be fitted with transponders. Non transponder fitted trams will still be able to operate normally between Pleasure Beach and Bispham however their usage may be quite limited as they will have to be used on specials.
